A “tune up” for Quartz watches, this service is recommended for quartz watches that have not had any service work for four years or more. All gaskets are checked and replaced if necessary. The movement is electronically tested and battery is replaced. The case is tested for water resistance.
Govberg Watch Repair will replace your watch's battery, and electronically tests the movement for battery consumption.
Our watchmakers physically adjust the movement faster or slower to brand recommended specifications.
Removable links are separated and refinished individually. Non-removable links of different materials or finishes are masked and polished, or satin finished, in separate steps.
We completely disassemble the case and bracelet/strap and remove the movement to protect it from polishing compounds. The case is then lapped and polished to restore the factory finish. The case is then ultrasonically cleaned using special cleaning agents. The case is then reassembled replacing all of the gaskets, and the watch is then tested for water resistance.
A complete overhaul includes the complete disassembly of the mechanical watch case, bracelet, and movement. The case and bracelet are ultrasonically cleaned. All worn or rusty movement parts are replaced with genuine replacement parts. The movement is ultrasonically cleaned, reassembled, and lubricated. The movement is electronically calibrated and placed into the case. The watch is pressure tested in both wet and dry conditions and then time tested to ensure accuracy.
The transparent "glass" which protects the dial of the watch is called a crystal. There are three common types or crystals: acrylic, mineral and sapphire. A sapphire crystal is the most expensive, scratch-resistant and durable type of crystal. Watch crystals can break or crack from impact or perhaps by dropping a watch on a hard surface. Govberg's watchmaker can replace almost any watch crystal, and when possible, will carefully buff the crystal of your timepiece to remove unsightly scratches or marks.
Dial refinishing adds new life, beauty and wear-ability to a classic vintage watch. We meticulously refinish your dial to its original factory specifications.
Govberg Watch Repair usually will have the exact match for your watch's hands, including most vintage models, should hands need to be replaced. Our watchmaker can hand-make watch hands to exact specifications when replacement pieces are unavailable. We can also restore the luminous material to your watch hands, correct bent hands and change the color or metal of hands.
Most watches are water-resistant, however no watch is truly waterproof. A water-resistant watch has gaskets that help protect the case against average water pressure at a stated pressure or depth. Your watch should be pressure tested every time the case is opened to perform any inspection or service to test for potential leaks and its ability to maintain the manufacturers original pressure standards. This testing is conducted with either state-of-the-art "dry" testing, and/or "wet" testing, and only applies to modern watches.
A quartz conversion can be an excellent choice for repairing an older manual winding watch. Many parts are no longer available, or can be very costly. Many old watches are also considerably rusted inside. With a quartz conversion your watch will look the same, and will simply need periodic battery changes.
A damaged stem and/or crown can compromise your watch’s water resistance and subject the movement to damage when winding. A new stem and crown will restore the watch’s appearance, prevent the delicate watch movement from being disturbed, and will insure the appropriate level of water resistance.
Govberg Watch Repair offers an extensive selection of replacement straps and bracelets, which can dramatically enhance the appearance of a well-worn timepiece. We offer crocodile, lizard, alligator, ostrich and leather straps in both custom and standard, sizes and colors.
This describes taking the watch, complete with the movement, and running it on various timing apparatuses (watch winders). This is to test average rate, the function, and efficiency of the automatic device. The watch is analyzed over a 48-72 hour time period to ensure accuracy of the time at various points.
Govberg Watch Repair will manage all communication with the watch manufacturer, will orchestrate shipping between our facility and the brand’s, and will stay abreast of all activity in an effort to expedite your repair service. Customers must include the warranty paperwork on all such jobs or they will not be recognized as warranty repair work by the individual factories, and you will be charged standard rates for all service provided.

About the repair
Very pleased with service. Arrived earlier than expected, price was very reasonable (especially compared to a local dealer who quoted more than double the price you charged) and most importantly the watch looks brand new and works perfectly again. Thanks so much.

I've been very pleased with the service, web site, price/value, and shipping...I had 2 watches in for repair and the convenience of a web-based company can not be underestimated. When I did need to speak with a live person, I was greeted by a very respectful, knowledgeable and helpful associate. These qualities ensure a long lasting relationship, which is key, especially when providing service to clients with watches in the $10,000-20,000 range. Kudos to all!

Thank you for resurrecting my Jaeger LeCoultre Watch. It has been many years since I wore it. It is now just as I remember it when I bought it in 1956 at a department store in Dayton, Ohio. I looks shiny and brand new.
John - Bethesda, MD
